Exhibition 06/06 – 05/07/2025

Luigi Pericle (1916 – 2001) developed a highly personal, elaborate and meticulous graphic style in which there was no room for second thoughts. He used immaculate glossy cardboard on which he gave free rein to his creative impulse.

The composition is either extremely refined, with the form balanced on the paper, or, on the contrary, very dense, with Indian ink covering the entire surface of the sheet, the artist’s gesture consisting of removing the material to draw in a subtle play of light and shadow. An optical effect of material and relief is perceptible in his extremely smooth works, which are reminiscent of his painting.

This year, following in the footsteps of the Arthur Tooth & Sons gallery in 1964, we wanted to bring Luigi Pericle’s works closer to those of his contemporaries, such as Mathieu, Michaux, Riopelle, Tàpies and Wemaëre.
