The Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Musée National de l’Automobile- Schlumpf Collection are hosting the first retrospective exhibition in France of the work of Swiss artist Luigi Pericle (Basel, 1916 – Ascona, 2001). Born to an Italian father and a French mother, Luigi Pericle was an illustrator, painter, writer and much more. A renowned artist in the 1960s, he proved to be a prolific painter before retiring from the world to devote himself to his art and esoteric research. From his humorous drawings to his paintings of spiritual subjects, Pericle was a fascinating artist who never stopped moving from one world to another throughout his life.

Luigi Pericle’s legendary Ferrari 250 MM Spider is now housed in the Musée National de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, which boasts one of the finest collections in the world. The car, as a link between Pericle’s different worlds, gives rise to a crossover journey between the two museums in a novel visual and conceptual presentation.
The Rossellini’s Ferrari of Luigi Pericle’s
Luigi Pericle’s Ferrari in a dedicated booth until August here was rebuilt in ’55 by Scaglietti and is identical to the 750 Monza Spider without the fin which in this link they say is the only one in the world. This is only partly true because Pericles’ one has the 750 Monza Spider bodywork without fin ( and so there are two of them ) but the engine of the original 250 MM vignale that belonged to Roberto Rossellini ( see the card).
