Luigi Pericle. “Until the end of time”
In the house of Luigi Pericles we also found an unpublished 500-page manuscript in German. The text is divided into three parts. Three events in different periods of the same protagonist. The first part is situated in an underground, post-apocalyptic world. (pages 1 – 185). The second part (186 – 497; 530 – 539) takes place today (presumably around the 1990s).
We meet the main characters of the first part while they are preparing a place that would serve as a refuge for a part of humanity from the imminent catastrophe (“Cataclysm”) : A kind of ark where not only human beings but also the essential of human culture would be saved: The best of Art, Literature, Music, Craftsmanship. In the architectural and spiritual “Center” of this world a group of people is preparing a new humanity that could then go out to inhabit the earth once it would be inhabitable again. (see Part One, p. 1 – 185) This “Center”… , seed of the New World, not only contains Libraries and Archives but a true spiritual school.
The third part, “AMDUAT” (p. 497 – 530) takes place in ancient Egypt and describes the initiation of the protagonist to the sacred union of Egyptian priests-sculptors. This chapter is a separate entity, it was printed and published by Luigi Pericle in 1996. The Egyptian word AMDUAT is related to the 12 trials that the Sun God must go through during the night in Hades.
And here is therefore an evident parallelism with the protagonist who meets his ancient Egyptian master who had initiated him to sacred sculpture in the capital. The adventures to reach the time of initiation and accomplish it as a metaphor of the 12 trials of the Amduat. This friend from a past life then arrives in the present on a spaceship capable of crossing time and space while the protagonist is a guest in the castle of a character who is building an ark. The space vessel is described in mimini details by the author. We are faced with a fictionalized representation of future and past reuniting.
The protagonist of all three parts is “Michael”, “Micha” for his friends, also called “Odysseus” (Ulysses). Ageless” character crosses time, he is a friend of highly evolved characters who have come from space, he gathers around him others who are going to prepare “The Ark” underground in a mountainous region of Northern Italy.
Together with him in the first part we meet “Nausikaa”, a young medical student, dissatisfied with her obtuse fellow students and limited teaching methods. Nausikaa becomes a pupil of the “Center, seed of the new world” and a spiritual friend of Michael/Odysseus as well as an emblem of those who are pure and embody the trust of those in this underworld who must live and rebuild a future. Nausikaa and Michael realize that they are made for each other, that they will be inseparable spiritually “Until the end of time” (p. 44).
While in the second part we meet other characters who in this first part revolve around Michael and Nausikaa (such as “Master Leonardo”, “Patriarch A” ), the girl is introduced only here, in the underground world; the first pages of the novel talk about their decisive encounter.
The second part ends leaving open some questions of the reader (for example how the “cataclysm” took place) the possibility of other developments that complete the story remains open. However, it may also be that Pericle deliberately leaves open the end of the visionary novel as a warning and thinking about a catastrophe yet to come and maybe avoidable …
“Until the end of time” contains many teachings about art and culture, martial arts, music and medicine. The most impressive is surely “Amduat”. The action, preparation of the underground shelter, meeting of Michael/Odysseus and Nausikaa and preparations for the re-emergence of human life and culture in a new world on a devastated but also purified and once again made liveable, lends itself as an opportunity to transmit the teachings of Louis Pericle to humanity in a fictionalized form.
It is an esoteric, visionary, pedagogical text that escapes canonical literary schemes.
I WISH TO READ THE FULL BOOK IN GERMAN AND I UNDERTAKE NOT TO DISSEMINATE IT.
